360 Degree Review Process

At Vermont Craft Mead we are always trying to expand and improve our review process. Our semi-annual reviews aren't just a chance to check in one-to-one with our staff, they're also an opportunity for our employees to give us feedback on how to improve.

Thanks to the rigorous B Corp Verification Process, we've built an in-house 360 Degree Review Process which we now apply to all employees from intern to senior management.

What is a 360 Degree Review Process?

A 360 Degree Review includes feedback from colleagues, supervisors, and subordinates, as well as a self assessment.

They are more complicated and time-intensive than traditional reviews, and there are also risks associated with poorly executing a 360 Degree Review, but we believe the benefits vastly outweigh the negatives.

Employee Feedback

We also incorporate employee feedback into the review process. An employee can only be as good as the company they work for, so this an excellent time to check in with everyone about their views on the state of the business.

Why is it important?

Unlike the old-fashioned review where a boss sits an employee down and tells them a laundry list of improvements with a few points of praise thrown in, a 360 Degree Review focuses on the employee's growth and challenges within the larger context of their work and home environment.

Crazy things happen in the market, ingredients don't show up, we pick up a major account. you lose a relative, you go through a break up... any of these things can affect job performance either positively or negatively. Without greater context, it's difficult to set goals and help employees with their professional development.

Most importantly, it makes the review a conversation, rather than the dreaded laundry list.
