Ioniq Fleet
Vermont Craft Mead is proud to supply our Vermont-based staff with company Hynduai Ioniqs for all company travel.
While new to the market, the Ioniq is the most fuel efficient hybrid currently available. Additionally, it is priced such that small companies like Vermont Craft Mead can actually justify making the decision to reduce our carbon footprint without breaking the bank.
In addition to simply providing the vehicles, we train our staff on how to maximize the fuel efficiency of the car, and we have an ongoing in-house MPG Competition. The competition is broken into distance segments of 10+ and 100+ miles with extra points for maintaining a high MPG in adverse conditions such as rain and snow.
Our summer average is 58 mpg, while our winter average is 48 mpg.
As of this writing, our current record holder for travel longer than 10 miles is Ricky at 78 mpg for an 18 mile trip.
Ricky is also our record holder for long distance at 65.1 mpg for a 440 mile trip.

Why not Electric Vehicles?
Mostly it's the economics. We simply cannot afford electric vehicles with the range necessary to allow our staff to do their work.
We look forward to a future with a charger infrastructure that allows us to go completely carbon neutral, but that's still on the horizon, although we actively support Vermont's efforts in this direction.
