Event Sponsorship

One of the best ways to use our resources to support our community is to partner with others who share our mission.

Over the years, we have been honored to participate in numerous events through sponsoring, partnerships, and vending. But we have also turned down many opportunities, and these are much more important to note.

We have a lot of control over the welcoming atmosphere we create and promote within the walls of our Mead Hall, but it takes an extra level of vigilance to make sure that we're participating in - and more importantly sponsoring - events which meet the standards of Vermont Craft Mead.

Sometimes, it's a simple as following our apolitical position or choosing not to participate in events that advocate for a position antithetical to our own advocacy. In those cases we usually say, "Thank you very much, but our company policy doesn't allow us to support x,y and z."

The more challenging issue is identifying events and venues which are implicitly unwelcoming to members of our community. For example, there was a music venue that we discovered had several harassment complaints against it. On another occasion, we found out that a partner of ours had violated trust with many of his vendors.

Severing relationships with partners can be very painful, but we are committed to making our community feel welcome and safe.

We rely on our customers and community to share their experiences of our partners. If you feel that we are unintentionally supporting a cause, venue, or event which is in violation of our mission, we urge you to reach out to us.
