Child-Friendly Workplace
We believe that the choice to send your young child to childcare should be a decision driven by your family's wants and desires, not an economic double-edged sword.
To help make it easier for our employees and customers to support the needs of their families, we have endeavored to make Vermont Craft Mead a child-friendly work environment and to make all of our venues family-friendly.
As with our parental leave policies, we know that childcare decisions disproportionately effect women, lower income individuals, and minority populations, so we do everything in our power to help our employees focus on the needs of their family, not their paycheck.

For Our Employees
As part of our Work-Life Balance goals, we offer:
Space for young children as well as space for nursing mothers. Parents are welcome to bring their children to work so long as advance notice is given and a safe space is prepared either at the meadery or at the venue of employment.
In practice, this means that we have two child-safe areas in our meadery (one near the offices and one near the production area) and all employees are trained to support parents of young children. Plus there's our breastfeeding policy.
When we're out-and-about, we will help parents bring their children to events whenever it's safe and feasible.

For Our Customers
Our child-safe spaces as well as our breastfeeding/pumping areas are open to our customers whenever we're open for events. Several of us have been young parents and know that it can be nearly impossible to get out and socialize. We also try to make as many of our events family-friendly as we can.
Many of our customers and employees also have "nontraditional families" (a term we don't really love, but are willing to use): single parents, polyamorous relationships, or simply one parent who has to travel for extended periods for work. The list is endless.
We want you to know that you are welcome at the Feast, no matter how you identify and no matter your family makeup or situation.
