Your Values are Our Values

At Vermont Craft Mead - home of Groennfell Meadery and Havoc Mead - we believe that every decision we make has an impact on our business, community, and planet. Our company is committed to doing our best to use our power for good.

We also believe that consumers have a right to know both the amazing things that we're doing, as well as areas where we're working to improve. Inviting all those in need to the Feast is the heart of what we do.

FAQ

What is "The Feast"?
Join the Feast is more than a slogan to the staff and community surrounding Groennfell Meadery, it is a commitment we have made about how we want to live our lives.

In a world full of noise, doubt, and distraction, the Feast is a place where we can recommit to our principles, our families, and our wider community.

A Feast is not simply an abundance of food, nor an excess of drink. A Feast is a ritual set off from the rest of your day, week, or year. It needn’t be a grand affair; with the right intention, two people can feast on a picnic blanket.

Our goal at Groennfell Meadery is to be Stewards of the Feast. We try to incorporate the values of the Feast into everything we brew, all of our events, and the way we run our business.
Is there Third Party Verification?
Groennfell Meadery LLC and sister company Havoc Mead, are a certified B Corp. We pursue numerous third party verifications and The Drink Your Values Project is part of the way that we share our business practices with our customers.
What's the difference between Vermont Craft Mead, Groennfell Meadery, and Havoc Mead?
Vermont Craft Mead is the name we use to talk about our two sister meaderies: Groennfell Meadery and Havoc Mead.

We originally founded the company in 2013 as Groennfell Meadery LLC, and in 2015 we launched Havoc Mead to expand our offerings. At Groennfell Meadery, we brew using Old World recipes adapted to modern brewing practices, at Havoc Mead we get to brew whatever our hearts desire!
What is a B Corp?
In the words of B Labs, the UN recognized certifier of B Corps:
Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.

Society’s most challenging problems cannot be solved by government and nonprofits alone. The B Corp community works toward reduced inequality, lower levels of poverty, a healthier environment, stronger communities, and the creation of more high quality jobs with dignity and purpose. By harnessing the power of business, B Corps use profits and growth as a means to a greater end: positive impact for their employees, communities, and the environment.

B Corps form a community of leaders and drive a global movement of people using business as a force for good. The values and aspirations of the B Corp community are embedded in the B Corp Declaration of Interdependence.

Where are your products available?
Great question! If you live in New England, you can find our products in your local store. Please visit our Mead Finder Map! If you live further afield, check back soon! We're expanding all the time!
What if I have questions that aren't covered on this website?
We're trying to improve every day and questions are one of the ways we get better. If you can't find what you're looking for, visit groennfell.com or havocmead.com or shoot us a message on our contact page!
What if I disagree with your values?
Obviously, we like to think that our values are pretty universal. Things like supporting our community, providing good jobs for our employees, and doing our best to create a sustainable future are fairly popular.

That said, there's a very good chance that you disagree with us about something. Maybe we support an issue you don't. Maybe you don't think we do enough to live out our values. We urge you to reach out to us on our Contact Page to let us know either how we can improve or where you think we've gone astray.
